Nowadays, the accounting software programs and processes that many of us use in accounting departments are accessed by logging into a web browser and using cloud-based software apps that integrate with each other via the internet. We call this Cloud Accounting.
Cloud Accounting Software
Cloud-based programs and processes have changed the game for the accounting profession. The popularity and adoption of cloud accounting has been growing in the past decade, but by no means do ALL accounting departments use these modern workflows.
If you look at this Technology Adoption Curve, we’ve progressed through the Innovative and Early Adopter stages last decade and are now in the Early and upcoming Late Majority stages. That means that the majority of accounting departments in our country are still doing things the way they’ve always been done.
But at the same time, the technology now exists and will only get better. Now is the time to make sure your accounting department is reaping the benefits of cloud accounting.
What Cloud Accounting Software Means for You
So what does this mean for you? It means that there is a huge opportunity for your organization to leverage cloud accounting. As cloud accounting hits the majority, many more businesses will continue to migrate to a cloud-based infrastructure very shortly. And for you to remain relevant and competitive, it’s time to adopt this trend as well.
At Redmond Accounting, my team and I have worked with hundreds of businesses over the years and have seen first-hand how they suffer from the high costs of time-consuming manual processes, human error, and susceptibility to fraud.
This is primarily because of the way we’ve done things in the accounting profession for so long – that’s just how it was done.
Overcome Challenges with Cloud Accounting Software
Do any of these sound familiar to you?
You have piles of paper everywhere. Your office is cluttered with unmanageable paper piles and overstuffed filing cabinets, leading to disorganization and a lack of adequate storage space, making it challenging to locate documents and complete necessary filing tasks.
You use desktop software. Your organization relies on outdated desktop software installed via CD, limiting access to one user at a time, or uses a networked solution allowing multiple users access but requiring significant maintenance. Challenges include server upkeep, remote access difficulties, the necessity of daily data backups and off-site storage, along with frequent updates to both server and client computers to ensure software currency.
You have important customers, vendors, contractors, banks, and/or partners that you count on to keep your burning running. You want systems in place to manage all of these people.
You’re frightened of fraud and you feel very exposed because you do not think your systems are secure, and you don’t know how to better protect the business
You find yourself frequently doing things that feel very manual, and you just KNOW there must be a better way
I know these stories from decades of first-hand experience. The cloud accounting workflow is so much more efficient than the way we used to do things. That is why I, and my team at Redmond Accounting, love to help businesses implement a cloud accounting workflow.
