In 2010, I created a workflow app. I didn’t know then that it would go so far. I simply started building what I needed – a way to set up tasks, assign them to clients and staff, and have them repeat at different intervals. I also needed every task to contain step-by-step instructions, so that we could put our knowledge capital to work to provide excellent service to our clients.
The first time Theresa logged in to test what I’d built, she was a bit concerned because the new system told her she had 42,817 tasks to do! I quickly updated the screen to add a filter so that only the open tasks assigned to the user logging in and due as of the current day would show.
And that’s how it went. We used it and improved on it every day… for years. Somewhere along the way, colleagues asked about using it for their own firms. I partnered with some incredible brains who re-built it on its own platform. Today, Aero Workflow is published on Intuit’s app store and powers thousands of accounting professionals and Firms of the Future around the world, including ours.

We use Aero to make sure all tasks are completed timely. The services we provide are broken down into smaller tasks, delegated for separation of duties and scheduled at the agreed-upon frequency.
Work is done the same way every time. Each task contains a checklist with step-by-step instructions. The checklists don’t make the work easier, we still require advanced certified and experienced accounting professionals to understand the checklists. But it does allow us to guarantee that your work will be performed consistently and accurately.
When staff are out of the office, we re-assign resources so that client work is never offline.
We watch what everyone is working on. We watch as the status of tasks moves from ‘not started’ to ‘in progress’ to ‘completed’. We watch our firm at work.
