If your business is using QuickBooks Desktop software and wants to move to QuickBooks Online, you’re in luck. Keep in mind that QB Online is a different software program built on a different platform than QB Desktop. While there are many similarities, there are also many differences. A major one is that QB Online is intentionally designed to act as the core general ledger for an ecosystem of connected apps, found in the QB App Store. These apps customize QB Online for your business’ unique needs and push relevant data back and forth to QB Online. The additional cost of an app is almost always off-set in spades by a reduction in labor, as they automate work and reduce errors caused by manual processes. Apps also keep non-accounting staff out of the general ledger – salespeople in the CRM, warehousemen in the inventory app, hourly workers in the time tracking app, etc. Today’s app developers are re-thinking better, more automated ways to help you run your business.
